About the Team:

The Accounting & Closing Life and Health team in Finance Reinsurance has global ownership of L&H sub-ledger related accounting and closing activities covering all valuation bases (i.e., US GAAP, IFRS 17, IFRS 9, EVM and Statutory). In addition, the team is also responsible for ensuring Economic Value Management (EVM) reporting quality and consistency by providing second line review of the quarterly EVM valuation figures submitted by the L&H Business Management valuation actuaries.

We are a high-performing team with varied strengths of ca. 50 team members primarily located in Bangalore, Bratislava, and Zurich. We work in a friendly, collaborative, and lively team environment.


About the Role:

We are looking for a hardworking and motivated individual to join the L&H Accounting and Closing team in Financial Accounting Technical. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with IFRS 17 and 9 and be part of the FPSL implementation which will shape the future financial accounting and reporting operating model.


As a Senior IFRS Reporting Professional working in the L&H Accounting and Closing team, you will support the FPSL Project working with a multidisciplinary team consisting of Accounting and Actuarial Business Experts, Information Architect, Business Analysts and Developers. The team will be responsible for the design, testing and implementation of an efficient and effective production across all valuations for L&H. The initial focus will be on IFRS 17 and 9 which will expand to other valuation bases and accounting standards.


In addition, you will also learn about the Economic Value Management (EVM) framework at Swiss Re. Along with other members of the team, you will provide punctual support during the quarterly EVM reporting cycle, reviewing EVM results submitted by the regional actuarial teams.


You will decide and act with a degree of autonomy in practice areas with the delegated authorities.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Support end-to-end integration testing in the new FPSL environment for IFRS 17 implementation
  • Contribute to IFRS 17 comparatives phase and parallel run
  • Involvement in the manual adjustments workstream
  • Leading role in the IFRS 9 for Life & Health workstream
  • Work closely with other functions, including Business Management Actuarial, Group EVM, FP&A, Regional Finance, IT, etc.


About You:

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • 5 years of experience in insurance/reinsurance or financial industry
  • Newly qualified accountant or part-qualified accountant with more than 5 years of experience
  • Understanding of and experience working with an economic valuation framework (EVM, Solvency 2, MCEV, IFRS 17) as well as investments (IFRS 9)
  • Able to quickly develop understanding of new systems and processes
  • Experience in financial reporting preferred
  • Previous experience working in actuarial / finance / IT projects advantageous
