Service Product Manager for Material Handling and Grinding

Accountable for the long-term profitable growth of Service solutions in Business Line Gearless Mill Drives (GMD) as well as in the Business Line Mining covering the portfolio of Service for Drives Solutions in Material Handling and Grinding applications. Ensure ABB has a full understanding of market requirements and can transform these requirements into offering specifications and development activities. Perform various offering life cycle activities supporting development, manufacturing, launch, maintenance, pricing, and profitability. Location: Flexible / Global

Your responsibilities

  • Market situation analysis: Understands and defines current market segmentation and related offering positioning including relevant regulations and standards
  • Identifies potential gaps in portfolio, both against competition and new market opportunity
  • Drive the process to define market potential together with various local business lines with ambition targets to support growth service potential
  • Lead installed base mapping by country and promotes reliable installed base data in ServIS
  • Existing products: Owns the technical and market specification for the offering and determines an offering business plan that supports sustainable growth
  • Leads life cycle management process, analyses current offering, defines and tracks performance metrics, plans appropriate measures (e.g. enhancements, cost reductions, phase-outs) and makes decisions on offering obsolescence and end-of life to ensure current and future market requirements are met and maximize profitability.
  • Installed base management - consolidation, verification, identifying service coverage and lifecycle stage of each IB. And thus, planning with sales, training, service teams to tackle them
  • Drives continuous improvement of existing products, engages with customers, users and stakeholders to collect feedback and drives improvement implementation
  • Maintain all related product documentation (internal/external) including product customer value proposition and ensure communication (internal/external) in a timely manner
  • New product development: Defines new offering plans, sets technical, price, cost and capital expenditure targets
  • Maintains a clear product roadmap for all products in the assigned portfolio with active development
  • Drives value evaluation of the product features and the prioritization of the features in development, details feature requirements as needed and defines definition of done
  • Prioritizes new offering development projects with responsibility for achievement of targets (product characteristics, time, costs, capital expenditure, pay-back) and coordinating cross-functional teams
  • Product values: Defines overall product portfolio vision and product narratives
  • Defines product customer value proposition per segment and channel and ensures clear communication to channels and users, to deliver clear offering positioning within the portfolio with defined values per offering line
  • Keeps Business Line, Sales and channels informed on topics related to the offering, such as new offering availability, market, competition, quality, configuration, trends and limitations.
  • Provides sales support, participates in customer meetings and attends trade shows on request
  • Supports marketing programs
  • Ensures appropriate training material is available for use both internally and externally
  • Offering to market & pricing management: In preparation for new product launch, and otherwise as required, defines pricing strategies and manages global frame agreements and/or large-scale cross border projects to ensure one ABB approach
  • Ensures correct pricing is applied for all countries within relevant business area
  • Develops and maintains a global reference price list appropriate to both ABB internal offering positioning strategy and competitor offerings and ensures this is developed and deployed to reflect the needs of individual markets
  • Actively engage and support strategic marketing & sales initiatives for service (e.g. LifeCycle Services, Modernization and Smart Services etc).
  • Innovation: Drives new value generation for the product portfolio by engaging in proactive user needs discovery, with UX professionals support
  • Introduces and de-risks new business models in our offering
  • Monitors development of all standards and market trends and provides inputs to Research & Development (R&D) for patent screening process and intellectual property rights protection
  • Smart Services (Digital solutions) for anchor products: Maintain the exiting Smart services (Digital solutions) and define service requirements for new digital solutions, while interacting and aligning closely with our internal organization for digital solutions development

Your background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • With 5 plus years of experience in Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Engineering or Service
  • Proven experience in the mining industry. Application and/or related technical experience with drives & motors is great plus
  • Know-how in Digital applications and remote service platforms is desirable
  • Experience in an agile product development environment, user needs discovery and building products with strong user experience
  • Ability to build-up relationships and to create a collaborative environment with all stakeholders
  • Self-motivated and focused character with strong analytical, reasoning, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills
  • Fluency in English. Spanish is a great advantage
