About the Role and the Team


We are looking for a dynamic, open-minded and business oriented underwriter to join our Political Violence underwriting team. You will be underwriting treaty business and support facultative reinsurance underwriters in cooperation with deal teams. The job includes portfolio steering, trend analysis and development of costing parameters as well as marketing and sales activities in the designated markets in accordance with Swiss Re’s value proposition. You will develop new opportunities with tailored and bespoke solutions for clients to further strengthen their core business, which contributes to their and our success.


The Opportunity


Your main responsibilities in this role include:

  • Underwrite and develop treaty business
  • Lead discussions and negotiations with brokers and clients and support internal cross selling initiatives
  • Analyze and anticipate future trends to improve our product offering
  • Support continuous development of the costing platform and accumulation control
  • Collaborate with colleagues from claims, accounting, finance and contracts & wordings

About You


  • Degree in Science, Business or equivalent education, with a Minimum of 3 years work experience in a relevant insurance or reinsurance underwriting function
  • Sound mathematical background with an extensive technical appreciation of costing methods and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent command of the English language, French is a plus
  • Outstanding teammate, who can also work independently and take responsibility for making decisions
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to frame problems and solutions quickly and concisely
  • You are effective in establishing and building credibility quickly and maintaining relationships with internal and external clients and peers
