We want the story and provenance of every piece of art to be stored immutably. For artists to be rewarded fairly for their work and automatically receive royalties for future sales. We can redefine art ownership, opening up more flexibility for enthusiasts, collectors, artists and galleries.

Backed by two of the most influential leaders in the global art world, BCG Digital Ventures is currently building the platform that will become the digital backbone of the physical art industry. Leveraging distributed ledger technology, the platform will enable artists, art institutions, and museums to use a suite of tools to trade art and keep artists connected to their artwork. All while increasing operational transparency and efficiency in what is currently a fragmented ecosystem. We will redefine art ownership and open up exciting new models of participation for private and institutional galleries, artists, and collectors.

Due to launch in 2022, we are now recruiting the future team that will take over the reins from BCGDV and grow this business over the coming years to transform a very traditional industry primed for significant disruption. To achieve these goals, we need a fantastic team to build upon the great work done during incubation and take the business forward.

As CTO, you’ll be part of the executive team playing a pivotal role of owning the entire technology strategy and building the engineering team.

What you’ll do:

• Define the engineering strategy, articulate it to internal and external stakeholders (including the shareholders of the company), and implement it from launch to scale
• Build, scale, and manage the engineering team, foster a strong tech culture in that team and the wider company, and embrace an agile and iterative approach
• Work closely with the C-level (CEO, CPO, and CMO) to ensure that the technology vision is aligned with the business objectives
• Own the architecture across the core application and blockchain platform to ensure a secure, stable, and scalable product
• Provide direction based on the latest technology developments in the space, keeping up to date with advancements in software development, blockchain, and Web 3.0 to ensure the competitive advantage of the company
• Be the central stakeholder in negotiations with partners and third parties with regard to platform integrations, and manage those integrations

What you’ll need:

• You have significant experience in software architecture and building digital products from early-stage through to scaling and maturity
• You have an entrepreneurial mindset that is flexible, experimental, and resourceful
• You have the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders through clear and concise written and verbal communication
• You have a track-record of building, leading and scaling high performing engineering teams
• You have experience with blockchain technology and an understanding of the technical aspects of the technology, both in terms of advantages and drawbacks
