The Role:

The Commercial Manager plays a critical role in the success of the go-to-market strategy and key growth initiatives. This is a highly strategic role that relies on effective networking and exceptional interpersonal skills, as there is significant interdependency across Caterpillar. The Commercial Manager is diligently focused on delivery and execution relying on strategic perspective to assure the most relevant outcome and impact. In this role, the incumbent will provide oversight and leadership to a number of critical growth strategies to support services growth, sustainability and our emerging markets including the support of new product introductions, marketing and promotions, and competitive analysis and intelligence.

This position is responsible for commercial strategy by setting the tactical (short-term) and strategic (long-term) opportunities across industries and product groups. This requires a high degree of industry knowledge, business acumen, customer focus and the ability to analyze product utilization data to inform key processes and decisions. Provide information/support for other areas in Caterpillar (Business Units, Corp Accounting, etc). This includes information on market trends, industry information, sales, revenue and related numbers.

Moderate travel required across Europe and to other strategic markets (25% - 40% of working time).

Basic Qualifications:

• College or university degree or equivalent experience.

• 9-12+ years of progressively responsible job-related experience.

• Deep commercial and sales acumen within the construction industry with proven results in the sales, customer engagement and operations space.

• Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.

• Understanding of and credibility in the field of marketing with proven experience in the creation and execution of go-to-market programs

• Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.

• Entrepreneurial spirit motivated by problem-solving
