Job Description:

As a Product Marketing Consultant, you will serve as an expert in the Europe and Africa, Middle East HEXSM (Small HEX) and HEXWH (Wheeled HEX) business. In this role you will demonstrate your consultative skills and divisional expertise to influence decisions and recommendations that are made for strategic advantage, contributing to GCI’s business and long-term leadership position.

Job Duties:

  • Develop expertise in the HEXSM (Small Excavators) and HEXWH (Wheeled Excavators) products. Demonstrate creativity, foresight, business judgement and outstanding machine application or marketing/distribution knowledge along with the sensitivity to customer financial impact. You will gain knowledge, recognition and expertise to influence market requirements and trends
  • Develop applications experience, life cycle cost knowledge of dealers’ and customers’ application, industry and marketplace need. You will be providing support in areas covering new product introductions, market and distribution needs to stimulate breakthrough solutions that would help in market leadership. You will support senior management in planning major programs and objectives for the Division. You should begin to gain experience in providing direction for future product; distribution and industry needs and continue to improve your skills at sharing this expertise at higher industry levels with business unit management.
  • Manage the compliance of your own assignments and keep up to date with new industry trends, changing technology and regulations affecting the competitive environment.
  • Communicate effectively across product group, industry, dealer and/or customer audiences to gain understanding and acceptance of ideas and recommendations. At this level, leadership skills and the ability to sell ideas are beginning to develop, either as an individual performer or as the principal contributor to or leader of a generally small group/task force of technical or marketing people. You will also be developing expertise within government agencies, national associations, dealers and customer groups.
  • Support the field force (dealers and GCI (Global Construction Infrastructure Division reps) in everyday deal-closing and with medium term strategies through presentations and training. Product positioning is a major part of what you need to create and promote.
  • Work closely with other departments or divisions, such as Rental, Marcom, Pricing, Cat Finance to build your Go To Market Plans
  • Lead business reviews in territories with dealers. This will require a deep analysis of the marketing mix situation (5P) and will lead to recommendations on how to improve the situation.
  • Report on business results and trends on a monthly basis (roundtable with PG and GCI MB&MR)
  • Lead Price Disconnect project and participate to the Price Plan (sales strategy and BP) every year.
  • Provide input to sales forecast on NPI, products and geo mix changes as well as market trend.


Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a degree or equivalent experience with 5-8 years of specific industry experience in order to gain recognition.
  • Should have broad business background, specific long-term industry knowledge and excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to deal with sensitive issues, mentor and coach, and/or persuade others on new methods of equipment application, new technology and distribution methods.
  • Good human relations skills to develop a collaborative/cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the business unit.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize work and remain detail oriented
  • Previous marketing and/or field experience.
  • Generally, requires 25% to 50% travel to understand regional business conditions.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Caterpillar products, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of HEXSM and HEXWH product families, application and industry.
  • Knowledge of Europe and Africa, Middle East dealer network.
  • Addition languages to English is a plus
