Summary
The position will be based either in Geneva or in Lyon, with a direct report to the EMEA Head of Tax (based in Geneva). The EMEA Tax Manager will manage tax audits, with a focus on Africa tax audits. She / he will support the platforms and the finance department by giving advice on tax matters derived from restructuring (mergers / liquidation / spin off / sale and acquisition of shares) and financing projects. The EMEA Tax Manager will also be accountable for bringing efficiency to the tax compliance and tax reporting processes and will have to take leadership in ensuring that the Tax Function achieves its objectives related to Tax Control Framework. She / he will be supported by the relevant accounting people assisting the tax compliance process. He / she will have to build a strong relationship with all stakeholders involved in the finance processes (Accounting, Consolidation, Controlling, Treasury and Shared Service Center teams, located in Africa, Geneva and Sofia).
Main Responsibilities

EMEA Tax Audits
  • Reviewing and understanding the tax assessments (CIT, VAT, PAYE, Stamp
Duty, Custom Duties..). The indirect taxes are managed by a dedicated team, which is part of the EMEA tax team. The Tax Manager will benefit from their assistance on VAT matters;
  • Closely monitoring the legal procedure (compliance with deadlines);
  • Supporting local teams when replying to Tax Authorities;
  • Taking part in discussions with Tax Authorities (when appropriate) and with tax advisors;
  • Assessing and discussing the need for provisions with local teams and the EMEA Head of Tax;

Tax planning and advisory
  • Delivering analyses on potential restructuring (mergers / liquidation / spin off / sale and acquisition of shares..)
  • Supporting business decisions by providing ad-hoc tax analysis;
  • Providing whenever relevant improvement opportunities, and / or risk mitigations.

Tax Compliance
  • Monitoring and following-up overall tax compliance within EMEA region (timely filing of tax returns);
  • Reviewing yearly and quarterly tax provisions of companies;
  • Providing support to Finance department on tax accounting (including cash tax);

Tax Reporting
  • Assisting in the preparation and / or review of the current and deferred tax calculations for countries;
  • Providing support to the Reporting and Consolidation department on tax reporting (effective and cash tax rate analysis, etc.).
Experiences

  • 7-10 years of experience in a tax accounting function, ideally in an international environment (In-house tax or Big 4);
  • Very strong understanding of general and tax accounting as well as reporting concepts/principles (temporary/permanent differences, current and deferred taxes, etc.);
  • Experience in managing tax audits is a plus;
  • Knowledge of International tax and transfer pricing principles;
  • Knowledge of the various taxes (CIT, VAT, PAYE, Custom Duties…)
  • Basic Accounting knowledge is mandatory
Skills

  • Excellent knowledge and strong experience with Excel;
  • Some experience / knowledge of SAP would be a plus;
  • Ability to translate into accounting entries and tax consequences various schemes;
  • Analytical mindset with good communication skills.
