Your role

Are you a motivated self-starter? Do you have the enthusiasm, knowledge and desire to be part of our Finance Change function working on a large scale transformation initiative to increase efficiency of Accounting, Controlling and Regulatory Reporting functions? It is a unique opportunity to get involved in a major strategic Finance change initiative at UBS and we’re looking for our future leaders to help us
  • Review, challenge and (re-) design UBS’s financial and regulatory accounting, controlling and reporting processes, to effectively improve the management of bottlenecks in UBS’s global daily and monthly close processes delivering Group, business division and legal entity outputs
  • Implement a workflow management tool to actively manage dependencies, track completion and timeliness of activities performed, including signoffs, and improve transparency on recurring bottlenecks
  • Improve time to market and increase process efficiency through standardization, digitization and automation of our accounting, controlling and reporting processes through new technology solutions
Working as part of the core change team of the Accounting, Controlling and Regulatory Reporting Capability within the Finance Evolution 202X program, you will develop and deploy skills in business/operating model reengineering and workflow management and application of workflow tools. Our team is responsible and accountable for the delivery of the Finance Evolution 202X strategic transformation and specifically to align the Group and business division/legal entity accounting, controlling and reporting processes and platforms. You will play an instrumental role in our strategic transformation journey and will develop all requirements for our global close workflow management tool and lead implementation work in an agile manner and in close collaboration with our Information Technology partners. This will largely entail the following:
  • working with Subject Matter experts across all major Finance functions to understand and document their core processes and related outputs, timeline and stakeholders as well as interdependencies between the functions
  • establishing the front-to-back process flow to be monitored and improved, considering process improvements and changes to the target operating model identified through the process analysis or the work of other Accounting, Controlling and Regulatory Reporting Capability teams
  • drive the analysis and documentation of business requirements for an integrated workflow management tool
  • working closely together with Finance IT teams on the planning and preparation of the workflow tool development
  • actively supporting migration of processes onto the new workflow tool
  • defining automated testing requirements and performing testing, development cycles and implementation phases
  • being able to deal with teething issues in implementation of the change programs, taking on additional responsibilities to ensure smooth roll out of change plans

As part of the Evo202X transformation journey, which is a GEB sponsored initiative, Accounting, Controlling & Regulatory Reporting Change team has initiated a Program which is aiming at standardizing, streamlining and re-engineering existing accounting, controlling and reporting processes, technology solutions and operating model.
We are responsible for driving strategic and non-strategic but mandatory change initiatives related to financial controlling and regulatory reporting within Group Finance function.
Our team plays a vital role in implementing change ensuring compliance with international reporting and regulatory requirements thereby enhancing the firm’s standing with its stakeholders and within the financial industry as a whole.

Your expertise

You must have:
  • a university degree with proven experience in dealing with various reporting requirements and
operating in a financial services environment
  • strong business analyst background and 10+ years working experience in an accounting, regulatory reporting or bank controlling function, with understanding of IFRS and other GAAPs and relevant Basel III regulations
  • experience with workflow management and respective toolset is critical
  • excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and project management experience
  • hands-on and pro-active approach, flexibility and commitment is key
  • excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, ability to interact with staff at all levels
  • the ability to express opinions clearly, firmly and credibly, but also sympathetically when required
  • strong planning and organizational skills including multi-tasking, prioritization and the ability to
maintain your equilibrium under pressure

You are:
  • ready to act as change agent
  • a self-driven individual keen to design and improve processes and implement new toolsets, based on new technologies
  • able to apply technical understanding to practical problems and proactively addressing challenges identified
  • an effective team player, with professional and positive attitude
  • able to lead a small team of analysts
  • proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • fluency in English is required
  • knowledge on UBS’s accounting, controlling and reporting processes would be an asset
