Role Summary: This key role will be responsible for shaping and optimizing all aspects of the Global Airfoils Supply Chain for Gas Turbines and Steam Turbines as part of the massive Next Gen Supply Chain initiative. Specifically, this role involves ideating, leading and driving specific high-level make vs buy commodity strategy decisions including the optimal locations of value chains for customer impact, the technologies and inventory strategies to optimize cost and lead time, securing safety, quality and fulfilment, the investment profile, and the subsequent net-recurring business impact. This leader will lead, foster and drive collaboration of global cross-functional teams including factories, sourcing, P2V, services, materials, commercial, quality, product line, and engineering to continue to deliver high impact via key GSC Board decisions and subsequent execution on a governing overall part-family commodity strategy. The critical deliverables are the business KPIs of Safety, Quality, Fulfilment, Landed Cost, Lead Time, Cash, Investment, Liquidation, P&L impact and NPV payback using specific make-buy tools to evaluate and drive a decision. In addition, the role will be actively involved in the new technology introduction cycles collaborating with Commercial, Services, Product Line and Engineering to ensure that our future value streams can deliver competitive value and provide flexibility to support the overall product strategy of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a customer-centric commodity strategy for the Global supply chain that is optimized around SQDC driven value streams for maximum supply chain velocity using the established product family strategy
  • Recommend new much-needed shifts to the established product family strategy
  • Work collaboratively with team members, stakeholders and leaders in P2V, Services, Materials, Sourcing, Factories, Product Line, Industrialization, and Engineering to pull together cross-functional evaluations and solutions.
  • Perform detailed, process mapping of global value chains, factories and supplier core competencies, capabilities and capacities.
  • Run a data-driven comprehensive Make vs Buy analysis and lead the decision-making across key cross-functional partners on the critical KPIs.
  • Evaluate any change to a currently established structure (make to a make or make to a buy) or introduction of new breakthrough structures of the value chain.
  • Focus on inventory strategies in conjunction with services and commercial to optimize lead time
  • Focus on simplification of value chains by combining and consolidating routers and number of supply locations
  • Detailed analysis of Global Footprint to optimize and consolidate
  • Formulate recommendations with the joint team and bring to an SCSRB Gate Reviews (Supply Chain Strategy Review Board) – Senior leadership reviews to make and memorialize decisions
  • Ensure rigor around SCSRB Gate Reviews: Gate 1-4 to ensure sustainability of decisions
  • Drive allocation strategy for the business in line with SQDC
  • Level 1 Project management of any transfers or other critical initiatives
  • Ensure alignment of supply chain capabilities and capacity with product design and delivery requirements
  • Ensure technology preparation of the supply chain in conjunction with Industrialization, engineering and understand the impact of cost-curves to technology curves to lead an analysis to the optimal deployment strategy.
  • As required, conduct and support negotiations with suppliers to execute strategy
  • As required, support development and sharing of forecast and demand plan
  • As required, run cross-functional fulfilment projects for special cases like supplier exits

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent experience.
  • Several years of overall experience in supply chain or analysis pertaining to this or similar commodity, commodity management, cost out, materials, fulfilment, demand planning, lean, lead time, financial analysis, cost, sourcing or factory operations roles.
