To address the environmental impact of F-gases, the European Union (EU) introduced the F-Gas Regulation in 2014. One of the key components of this regulation is the F-Gas quota system, which places a limit on the amount of F-gases that can be placed on the EU market each year.
The F-Gas quota system is an important tool for reducing F-gas emissions and promoting the use of alternative, more environmentally friendly technologies. It provides an economic incentive for businesses to reduce their use of F-gases and encourages the development of new technologies and products that are more sustainable.
The availability of F-Gas quota is a crucial factor for all stakeholders in the F-Gas industry, as it serves as a limiting factor in their value chain operations. As per the EU F-Gas Regulation, these quotas are closely monitored, need to be reported and can be audited on a yearly basis.
