About The Team

We are responsible for setting the strategic direction of eBay: our ambition, where we play, and how we win in the market. The corporate strategy has a reputation of solving the most challenging problems and coming up with innovative and out-of-the-box solutions, with recommendations grounded in data.

We work very closely with senior leadership and have a high visibility. Team members can have a fast-track career in strategy or move into the business after 1-2 years.

Our Work Can Be Divided Into 3 Main Topics

The team is responsible for deeply understanding the needs of our core buyers and sellers and crafting the strategies that will differentiate eBay relative to our competitors. We work very closely with product, technology, and regional business teams to ensure the strategy is translated into action across the end-to-end customer experience.

We develop eBay Inc’s strategy together with eBay’s executives, we run strategic projects to solve key strategic issues supporting select executives at eBay, we closely monitor the competitive environment & trends.

The opportunity

Our eBay Corporate Strategy team is seeking a Senior Associate, Corporate Strategy. The candidate will be a creative problem solver with high levels of intellectual curiosity. You will work with key partners from all functions across the organization to craft strategies and drive structured and data-based recommendations to action. Within this role, you will have the ability to influence key elements of eBay’s strategy and to help shape the future of eBay. High performers can quickly excel their career, get exposure to senior stakeholders and learn all about ecommerce and be at the forefront of all new developments. The ideal candidate has a track record of making pragmatic, practical recommendations with real world implementation experience.

Responsibilities

• Strategy development and execution: You will help solve key strategic business problems in the context of strategy projects, working with different business units and functions
• Analyses: You will analyze data, generate meaningful insights, and visualize them for executive audiences
• Recommendations: You will make pragmatic, practical recommendations that are grounded in data and insights
• Market intelligence: You will develop insightful market intelligence about key industry trends and connect with the organization regarding their strategic implications
• Leading through uncertainty: You will be the go-to expert for your area of expertise, able to handle challenging requests
  

Job Requirements

• Intellectual curiosity
• Finesse in structured thinking and creativity in problem solving
• Outstanding analytical capabilities (quantitative and qualitative)
• Ability to communicate clearly and simply with mid-level and senior audiences
• Comfort in reaching out and coordinating cross-functional collaboration in a highly matrixed environment

• Being honest, direct and values driven
  

Qualifications

• 2+ years of work experience. Top tier strategy consulting experience required
• BS/BA degree required with significant academic achievements, including academic awards and other recognitions. MBA or other advanced degree preferred
• Industry experience in commerce/ retail, consumer goods or internet services a plus
• Fluency in German is a strong plus
