We reward employees with competitive pay and incentives to recognize skills, competencies, and contributions to business results. In this role, you will provide overall Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) support to laboratory research and development (R&D) and office operations in Switzerland. Advanced working knowledge of EHS regulations in Switzerland is required. Certified Safety professional according to the Swiss regulation.You will develop and implement procedures, processes, and programs compliant with company EHS standards and other local and country regulations with focus on compliance and key continuous improvement initiatives.Resource completion of all regulatory submissions, notifications, etc. required to maintain compliance with Country and Canton EHS requirements. You will interact with EHS agencies for inspections and regulatory advocacy. The successful candidate must have completed MSST-certification in alignment with MSST directive (CFST directive 6508).Your key responsibilities:
  • Advise organization of workplace EHS requirements, expectations, and best practices. Communicate and coordinate guidelines for organization’s employee and contractor safety awareness. Defines and implements, with the support of local leadership, improvements and standardization to practices and procedures to ensure safe and healthy work conditions for sites/labs and offices personnel and environmental compliance to maintain business right to operate.
  • Performs risk assessment/job safety analysis of laboratory work areas and processes to identify safety, health and environmental issues, such as chemical, biological, physical and radioactive hazards, as well as musculoskeletal stresses. Defines and implements, with the support of local leadership, compliance actions for hazard prevention and risk-control principles and strategies.
  • Oversees environmental compliance of organization’s operations. Conducts environmental tasks such as waste management activities and air permitting management.
  • Provides visible personal site/lab/office and general work environment presence to connect with workforce and drive execution and engagement at all levels
  • Coordinates EHS 1st party audit program to examine compliance with regulations and conformance with corporate standards and other related commitments. Ensures the tracking to closure of corrective and improvement actions taken in response to audit findings.
  • Leads, develops, or coordinates training programs to increase proficiency in EHS practices and promote awareness. Documents and maintains required training records per organizational, regulatory and corporate guidelines.
  • Resources organization to ensure timely reporting, classification, and investigation of EHS incident and near miss events.
  • Provides follow up on all ergonomic requests in laboratory and office settings.
  • Leads specialized work streams or be called upon to participate in other EHS networks or committees within the organization.
  • Supports the implementation of our company’s sustainability goals and programs (i.e., 4R, Operation Clean Sweep Blue).
  • Keeps the line organization appraised in making timely adjustments and continuously improve performance indicators through statistical analysis, performance metrics (leading and lagging indicators), monitoring results, etc. for organization’s EHS programs.
Your qualification profile:
  • Advanced working knowledge of EHS regulations. Preferred working knowledge of EHS management practices, processes, and expectations. Experience in Research & Development (R&D)/laboratory setting is strongly preferred.
  • Possess the experience and working knowledge to identify potential risks or gaps in EHS policies and procedures, identify and propose potential solutions, and recommend an action plan.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently (self-manage, plan and organize work, establish goals and objectives) with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral presentation, report writing). Works effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to influence others in support of organizational goals and objectives. Finds alternative pathways to act when barriers are encountered.
  • Proficient in office and database computer software (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and renew technical and regulatory expertise (active learner).
  • Completed MSST-certification in alignment with MSST directive (CFST directive 6508)
  • Languages: fluency in English is mandatory, fluency in French and/or German would be a plus.
