Global & Europe Regional GMD Operations HSE Manager Gearless Mill Drives (GMD)

As the GMD HSE Manager for Gearless Mill Drives (GMD), you will be responsible To lead a team of HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) advisors and specialists. Ensures there is sufficient expertise to support line managers and employees in the implementation of policies, standards, programs and practices in the assigned area of responsibility. Coaches, supports and provides advice to leadership and line managers on HSE matters, reporting on the performances of the respective organization along the ABB value chain. Leads global business specific HSE programs, as agreed.

Business Line Manager and functionally to Division HSE Manager

Your responsibilities

  • Ensures that the Business Line is appropriately organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates, and develops the HSE function within the organization through the Functional competency assessment process.
  • Contributes to effective risk management throughout business value chain and implement Activity Based Risk Assessment for operations. Provide specialist risk management advice to the team socializing HSE risks in their operations and oversight global project, service, and manufacturing processes.
  • Manage overall BL HSE performance and monitor LBL’s HSE performance fulfilling their HSE/SA targets & objectives from HSE/SA annual plan. Supports and guides the reporting and associated reviews of all categories of HSE incidents, driving actions aligned to the root cause and assure organization wide learning.
  • Implements ABB Way management system policies and standards. Ensures business line area of responsibility is audited according to programs internally and externally.
  • Serves as the primary HSE interface within the assigned area of responsibility and pre-pare BL HSE strategy aligning with Division and ABB HSE/SA standards. Drives and supports behavioral change to continuously improve performance through coordinated BL, cross BL in lead countries, Global division, and business area wide programs and initiatives.
  • Contribute actively to Project risk review, Human Rights risk evaluation, Scheduled Project Reviews, Contractor Management evaluating HSE risks, and advise relevant stakeholders providing support for effective mitigation.
  • Assure Project Management framework and ABB Way requirements have been applied for Project & Contractor Management in Project Specific HSE plan considering competent resources for safer execution.
  • Monitor quality of Self-Assessment programs for lead BL countries and report quarterly progress of HSE/SA strategic plan activities for your BL & designated lead countries.
  • Drives positive behavioral change and implement timebound actions for continual HSE improvements opportunities. Continuously increases assurance as aligned to the ABB WAY HSE/SA management system and aligns focus of BL leadership team with their objectives and targets

Your background

  • Qualified expert for HSE Management system holding University degree and professional HSE qualification. Preferred NEBOSH International diploma and Chartered Safety Professional status
  • Minimum 12-15 years of relevant HSE management experience preferably in the large manufacturing, mega Projects or managing large service organization operations in an international business environment
  • Experience in positions responsible for engagement of management of senior business leaders as well as operating personnel; maturity, discipline, project management, advanced facilitation, and communications skills.
  • Has demonstrated consistent leadership, management through influence and collaboration creation in a complex and multi-site team-based environments.
  • Good knowledge about international HSE regulations, Project, and Site management capabilities
  • Proven leadership skills, motivates and engage people, direct reports as well as indirect and peers to achieve challenging results.
  • Strategic orientation and Self-initiator to lead continual HSE improvement project
