Head of Group Controlling Turbocharging (80-100%)

In November 2020, ABB announced the planned divestment of its Turbocharging Division. Turbocharging is a successful and profitable Division in a mature market and has been for long a highly self-reliant business within ABB. ABB has decided to take this step, acknowledging that for Turbocharging to realize its full potential going forward, a new setup is required. As the next step, alternative ownership options, including a spin-off to the Swiss stock market, will be assessed, considering value for customers, ABB and the future of the turbocharging business. As the Head of Group Controlling you will be a part of a dedicated finance team supporting the Turbocharging business on the full spectrum of group controlling matters. Lead and drive the build-up of a dedicated group controlling team supporting the separation and operations of the Turbocharging business. Closely work with and engage with business-and finance leaders to ensure efficient global coverage of group controlling matters covering external- and internal reporting, investor relations, ARIC and process leadership for R2R, O2C and P2P. Assisting with developing strategies and executing the Group initiatives to deliver the company’s short, mid and long-term financial objectives by providing recommendations to the CFO/CEO. Your responsibilities

  • Design and Build-up Group Controlling Function together with external advisors. Lead a dedicated Group Controlling team, mandated to design, separate and run the group controlling for ABB’s Turbocharging business. Consider global and business specific requirements and take necessary decisions to ensure all controlling related requirements are adequately covered and are in line with the requirements stipulated by the business and legal set-up.
  • Main Responsibilities include:
  • Design, build-up and lead a small and dedicated group controlling team covering external- and internal reporting, group consolidation, investor relations, ARIC and design process leadership
  • Define group controlling operating model (TOM) for Turbocharging: Fully capture global business incl. necessary aspects related to the legal structure/set-up.
  • Implement necessary reporting/consolidation structures, processes, accounting & reporting guidelines
  • Strong contribution in the ERP and consolidation tool implementation project regarding the group controlling aspects, such as definition of a chart of account, developing a common management information platform supporting the automation and standardization of management- and group reporting
  • Work with and engage with business leaders and the finance community to align on requirements, hand-over points and expectations, incl. providing training where required
  • Take responsibility for the global Group Controlling infrastructure and ensure timely and accurate execution of monthly reporting and consolidation operations, manage the Group’s reporting processes
  • Effectively drive the preparation of budgets, forecasts, business plans and provide the supporting analysis to the CFO, the CEO and the Group Leadership team, for an optimized decision-making process
  • Ensure effective and efficient closing processes with consolidation of more than 50 legal entities in more than 45 countries globally spread over the world
  • Implement integrated dashboard of KPIs (financial and non-financials) to track the business performance. Ensure with the support of the External report lead, proper compliance with US-GAAP for internal and external reporting. Coordinate and drive yearly external audit campaign with relevant audit firm.
  • Support the communication and presentation of financial and strategically relevant facts to different investor groups all around the world to ensure securities achieve fair valuation in close collaboration with own COMS function

Your background

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration plus further professional qualification
  • At least 5 years professional experience in a Group Controlling function of a global company, with a strong focus on Consolidation, Accounting & Reporting
  • Excellent knowledge of Accounting Standards (US-GAAP)
  • Strong track record in project management, managing diverse teams and in executing and delivering results in an international environment within tight deadlines
  • Recognized as strong team player and appreciated for collaboration and business partnering skills, with excellent business acumen
  • Ability to navigate complex financial topics and translate results into recommendations for senior leadership
  • Advanced aptitude in problem solving, including the ability see the big picture and to logically structure and implement an appropriate operational framework
  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively adhere to strict deadlines
  • Strong communication, negotiation, leadership, and presentation skills.
