IS Solution Architect

The primary role of the IS Integration Solution Architect is to be responsible for the definition and delivery of Integration technology and architecture related elements. They are the representative/spokesperson for several Integration Services within the Organization. The Integration Solution Architect has visible and expert leadership in integration technology trends, architecture, delivery, stakeholder management, customer and process excellence.

Your responsibilities

  • Facilitates integration service triage related conversations
  • Represents the front face of integration to the customer
  • Collects and analyzes business and technical requirements
  • Translates business requirements into functional requirements and creates integration inventory, API (Application Programming Interface) catalogue and flows to define scope
  • Proposes integration patterns that best meet integration requirements
  • Proposes criteria-based integration solutions and ranks them according to the business need highlighting risks, pros, and cons for each solution
  • Estimates complexity of integrations
  • Defines and design blueprints for integration assets (e.g., reference architectures) and accelerators
  • Supports automation and DevOps related activities as part of continuously improving the service
  • Keeps knowledge up to date regarding new and emerging IS technology and IS industry practices, bringing learning into ABB; all within in the scope of the relevant IS solutions.
  • Participation in a broader solution development framework community of practices.
  • Collaborates with GBS IS Capabilities and Service Performance Excellence team to improve, define, maintain and optimize building processes and standard.
  • Adherence to Corporate IS Policies and Procedures, as well as to both internal regulations and external legislation falls within the area of responsibility of this job.
  • Provides guidance to IS Service Delivery unit team and to IS Project Management in how to utilize IS Application / Solution standards effectively
  • Communicates project delivery related decision demand towards project and service management in collaboration with IS Lead Architect to ensure resolution and avoid delivery issues
  • Commits and contributes to common result oriented collaboration with the various business processes IS architectural domains as well as the various enterprise technology IS architecture domains
  • For assigned tasks, executes all actions in IS processes according to agreed RACIS specification
  • In concert with IS Lead Architects ensures that IS Solution/Service related standards are considered accordingly
  • Provides leadership to temporary work teams, guiding and monitoring task completion, sharing expert knowledge and advice normally without carrying line responsibility.

Your background

  • Master’s Degree in Information Management, Computer Systems, Business Engineering or similar preferred
  • 5 plus years of relevant experience
  • Experience in Integration Architecture discipline
  • Experience in system engineering and service mesh, emerging architecture patterns like Microservices, and linking of integration elements into wider architecture
  • Ability to demonstrate related experience working with leading integration technologies/vendors (MuleSoft, Biztalk, Azure App functions, SAP PI)
  • Experience with APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), Event Driven, Streaming, ETL (Extract Transform Load) and batch patterns
  • Experience with formal Program Management methodologies (e.g., Prince2, Agile)
  • Experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships in a corporate environment
  • Business requirements analysis – proven ability to understand the customers/consumers needs and translate into integration inventory and requirement
  • Rationalize integration requirements to build simple, efficient, scalable, and supportable future-proofed integration designs
  • Knowledge of integration technologies, patterns, and strategies
  • Outstanding communication and presentations skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into easy-to-understand business customer friendly outputs
  • Solid people management skills – ability to draw out problems, involve and gain commitment from the relevant stakeholders in the business with credibility and gravitas to establish trust, gain consensus and buy-in, orchestrate engagement and collaborate with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to act independently and demonstrate a pro-active mindset
  • Strong in ideation related activities and ability to execute innovative ideas
