In this role you will be part of our Sensing and Analytics team in Baden-Dättwil, Switzerland. As part of ABB Corporate Research, you will work in a dynamic, motivating environment together with creative teams who share a wide range of experience and competence using state-of-the-art infrastructure.
Your responsibilities
- Performing applied research and technology development within multidisciplinary project teams in the field of sensors and industrial sensing applications
- Developing and evaluating innovative sensor technologies for industrial applications from process industry to electrical power transmission and distribution, including their integration in ABB products and services
- Driving research activities, generating intellectual property, write internal reports and scientific publications
- Evaluating new technologies and conducting technical surveys, collaborating with researchers and engineers from ABB as well as from universities, supporting the development of new products
Your background
- Minimum 5 years professional experience in Research & Development
- Technical expertise in sensor technology and/or instrumentation
- Competences and experience in any of the following fields is considered as a plus (electrochemistry, optical spectroscopy (FTIR, Raman, laser), electronics and/ or signal processing applied to sensing
- Experience in industry or PhD thesis in an industrial context is an advantage
- Proficiency in one or more of the following software/programming languages is an advantage: Matlab, C/C++, Python, LabView
- A collaborative, solution-focused approach, with strong written and spoken communication skills
- Passion and Motivation for hands-on mentality
- A Ph.D in chemical engineering, physical chemistry or a comparable domain
- Fluency in English
